Pepper X dethrones Caroline Reaper as world’s hottest chilli pepper

Pepper X, a new pepper created by hot pepper expert Ed Currie, has set a new record on the Scoville scale, being three times hotter than the previous hottest pepper. It rates an average of 2.69 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU), compared to pepper spray at 1.6 million units. Currie developed Pepper X over the course of 10 years and is now protecting it, unlike his previous creation, the Carolina Reaper, which has been used without permission in over 10,000 products.
