PMC on toes to keep city clean amid strike

Daily-wage workers and outsourced staff of the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) in India have been on strike, causing disruptions to sanitation services. However, alternative arrangements have been made to ensure cleanliness ahead of a visit by a central team as part of the Swachh Survekshan initiative. The workers are demanding higher wages and an end to the outsourcing system, but the municipal commissioner has described their demands as unreasonable and impractical. Anti-social elements have also been identified for disrupting sanitation work and engaging in violence against staff.
