Pollution rising, agencies stop sharing crucial data
Two agencies under the Union earth sciences ministry, System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) and Decision Support System (DSS), have stopped sharing information on sources of pollution in Delhi. Experts have called for transparency, stating that data on sources is crucial in designing strategies against pollution and creating public awareness. The real-time source apportionment study by IIT-Kanpur has also been stalled since October 18 due to a fight between the Delhi government and the bureaucracy. This lack of crucial data hampers efforts to tackle air pollution effectively.
