Prenup not valid in India but can indicate intent: Court

A Family Court in Mumbai granted divorce to a man based on grounds of cruelty, despite the court acknowledging that a pre-nuptial agreement is not legally enforceable in India. The court stated that the agreement could be considered to understand the intention of the parties involved. The man claimed that the woman emotionally blackmailed him into marriage and cited verbal attacks and conflicts over their different sexual desires as reasons for the divorce.
