Rainy day floods neighbourhoods in south Kol & pockets in north

Several neighbourhoods in Kolkata experienced waterlogging due to heavy rain throughout the day. South Kolkata and parts of north Kolkata were particularly affected, with areas such as Ballygunge, Kalighat, and Behala experiencing flooding. In contrast, the northern neighbourhoods received less rainfall. The intensity of the rain reduced in the afternoon, preventing longer hours of inundation. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is monitoring low-lying and waterlogging-prone areas without underground drainage systems, such as Behala and Garia. Portable pumps will be used in case of heavy rain.
