Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons and Chairman of Tata Trusts, returned to Twitter after a four-month hiatus to address fake news surrounding his patronage of Afghan cricket player Rashid Khan. Tata clarified that he had not made any announcements or offered rewards to any players, and urged his followers to verify messages before believing them. Social media has been flooded with fraudulent claims that Tata had announced a reward for Khan after Afghanistan’s victory over Pakistan in the Cricket World Cup. Afghanistan has also secured victories over Sri Lanka and England in the tournament.
