Retired teachers back to learning to take Class 10 exam for benefits

Around 200 retired teachers in Gujarat are preparing to take the Class 10 Gujarati, Hindi, or CCC examinations in order to secure their post-retirement benefits. A government notification mandates that teachers must pass one of these exams to be eligible for benefits. However, many teachers argue that these exams do not benefit them or their students. They believe that the government should adopt a more lenient approach towards retired teachers and that it is awkward for teachers to have to take exams after years of teaching.
