Russia says ‘improved’ position around east Ukraine town

Russia has strengthened its position on the frontline near Avdiivka, a strategically important town in eastern Ukraine. Avdiivka is north of the Moscow-controlled city of Donetsk and has become a symbol of Ukrainian resistance against Russia. Russian forces have launched artillery attacks on the town.
