Scientists recover RNA to resurrect extinct Tasmanian tiger and species

Researchers have successfully recovered RNA from preserved Tasmanian tiger specimens dating back to 1891. This marks the first time RNA has been retrieved from an extinct species and could have implications for recreating extinct species and understanding past pandemics. The specimens, stored at a museum in Stockholm, were surprisingly resilient, challenging the assumption that RNA degrades rapidly at room temperature.
