Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has alleged that the words “secular” and “socialist” were missing from the copies of the Constitution given to lawmakers at the new Parliament building. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal responded by stating that the copies carried the original version of the Preamble and that the words were added later through constitutional amendments. Opposition leaders have criticized the government over this issue, calling it a “serious” matter and a “crime”. They plan to raise the issue in the house and at their meeting.
