September showers come in handy, Pune records near-normal rainfall

Pune recorded near-normal rainfall for the southwest monsoon season, with a 6% deficiency. However, some districts in Maharashtra, such as Sangli, Satara, Solapur, and Kolhapur, reported significant shortfalls. Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Nashik, Dhule, and Ahmednagar fared better with normal to near-normal rains. The deficit reduced in the last two weeks of September, but the recovery in some districts may be impossible. Lack of rainfall in August has affected Kharif crop harvest, and farmers are awaiting compensation from the government. They hope for better cultivation in the upcoming Rabi season if the government provides support.
