Sextortion trap getting wider & dangerous
A businessman in Lucknow died by suicide after being blackmailed by a gang of cyber fraudsters who obtained his objectionable photos and videos through a social media platform. Another resident was also blackmailed by a YouTuber posing as a Delhi crime branch officer. The Lucknow cyber crime cell has received 43 reports of sextortion cases, with 15 cases solved. The criminals target affluent men aged 45 to 60 by creating fake profiles of attractive women and enticing them into sexual video calls. The gangs behind these scams are believed to be based in Haryana and Rajasthan.
