Shelter caretakers get Delhi HC relief, say woes not over yet
The Delhi High Court has ordered the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) to continue the services of caretakers at night shelters run by the Delhi government. The court made the decision in response to a plea by the Delhi Shelter Home Workers Union, which claimed that staff at the shelters were being terminated under a new tender. The court stated that the services of the caretakers should remain unchanged until the case is heard further. The workers had been protesting the move and demanding reinstatement, citing uncertainty over their employment and unpaid wages. Labour rights activists have also called for the regularization of contract workers.
