New Zealand’s Tim Southee will miss the opening match of the World Cup and potentially more due to a thumb injury, according to stand-in captain Tom Latham. Regular captain Kane Williamson is also unavailable due to a knee injury. Southee underwent surgery for a thumb dislocation injury sustained three weeks ago.
