To alleviate rheumatoid arthritis pain, supplement meds with yoga
A recent study conducted at AIIMS found that yoga can be used as an adjunct therapy to reduce inflammation and pain in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The study included 64 patients with active RA who were randomized into two groups, one doing yoga and the other not. The patients who did yoga showed significant improvement in their condition, with reduced disease severity and improved quality of life. Yoga was found to have a positive impact on immune-homeostasis and helped in immune-modulation. However, the study emphasizes that yoga should not replace medications for RA treatment.
