UK’s Sunak wants to ban cigarettes for younger generations
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has proposed a ban on younger generations buying cigarettes, making Britain the first country in Europe to have such strict anti-smoking rules. Under the proposal, the smoking age would be raised by one year every year, potentially phasing out smoking among young people by 2040. Sunak also plans to restrict the availability of vapes to children by regulating flavors, descriptions, and packaging. The move aims to improve public health and reduce the healthcare costs associated with smoking. Tobacco companies, such as Japan Tobacco and Imperial Brands, may be affected by the ban.
