Centre extends free fortified rice under welfare programs like PMGKAY until 2028 to combat anaemia and micronutrient deficiencies, costing Rs 17,082 crore. Fortified rice, enriched with Iron, Folic Acid, and Vitamin B12, is now in all government schemes.
