UP govt to launch trust-based building plan approval system

The Uttar Pradesh government is set to launch a new system called FASTPAS (fast and simplified trust-based plan approval system) for granting approvals of maps and layouts of buildings and townships. The system aims to cover new tools and concepts introduced by the state to promote urbanization. Through FASTPAS, applicants will have the option to purchase additional floor area ratio (FAR), facilitate land use change, and avail compensatory FAR. The system will also integrate various elements such as GIS master plan, land usage, and title ownership. The new system is expected to simplify the approval process and double the number of plan approvals.
