US Space Force pauses use of AI tools like ChatGPT over data security risks

The U.S. Space Force has temporarily banned the use of web-based generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools due to concerns over data security. The ban prohibits personnel from using large-language models, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, on government computers until they receive formal approval. The use of generative AI has grown rapidly in the past year, but the Space Force wants to ensure the technology is integrated in a responsible and strategic manner.
