Jehad Adwan, a nursing professor in Minnesota, is keeping track of the toll the Israel-Hamas war is taking on his wife’s family in Gaza. He marks the names of relatives killed or injured on a scrap of paper. Adwan’s wife, Fatma Abumousa, recently learned that five of her relatives were killed and another five injured in a bombing. Abumousa said through tears that she wants to stop losing people. Adwan wishes that media reports would humanize Palestinians as much as they do Israelis.
