86% dip in Canada study permits for Indians in October-December

In the October-December 2023 quarter, the issuance of study permits for Indian students seeking education in Canada experienced a significant decline, plummeting to 14,910. This marks an 86% decrease from the 1.1 lakh permits issued during the corresponding months in 2022 when Canada held the top position as the preferred study abroad destination for Indian students. According to Canadian Immigration Minister Marc Miller, who revealed these statistics in an interview, there is little expectation of a quick rebound in these numbers.
