SC stays ban on hijab by Mumbai college, but says no burqa or niqab

The Supreme Court temporarily halted a Mumbai college’s directive banning hijabs, caps, and badges, but allowed the prohibition on burqas, niqabs, or stoles to remain. The decision came in response to a petition by three students. Senior advocate Madhavi Divan raised concerns about religious symbols in education, which the court agreed to review further in November.
