Viral message on providing night drops for women fake, say Bengaluru police

Police in Bengaluru received numerous calls about a fake social media post claiming cops would escort lone women home between 10pm and 6am. Control room staff struggled to clarify that no such scheme existed. Officials urged people to dial the helpline 112 for emergencies. A misleading number in the post was traced to North India.
