Meta blocks Iran-linked hackers on WhatsApp targeting US officials

Meta blocked a small cluster of WhatsApp accounts linked to Iranian hackers posing as support agents for tech companies. The group attempted phishing attacks targeting US political and diplomatic officials. Meta has shared the findings with law enforcement and reported no successful account compromises. The hacking attempts are linked to Iranian threat actor APT42.
