Yashodhara Raje won’t contest state elections

Yashodhara Raje Scindia, the sports minister and four-time MLA from Shivpuri assembly seat, has announced that she will not be contesting the upcoming assembly elections due to health reasons. She has cited her previous four infections with the coronavirus and her inability to reach her constituency as reasons for her decision. There is speculation that Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia may be fielded for the vacated seat. The BJP has announced candidates for 79 seats so far, with the possibility of surprising selections in the next list.
