Review order, Karnataka urges Cauvery panel, may move SC

The Karnataka government has filed a review petition with the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) against the panel’s order to release 3,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu daily until October 15. The state is facing a severe water shortage due to insufficient rainfall, and the government has appealed to the CWMA to find a new solution. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also suggested establishing an expert advisory committee to monitor irrigation projects and provide continuous advice on inter-state water disputes. A statewide bandh was observed to protest the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.
