20 inmates rescued from illegal centre flee hospital

Around 20 inmates of an illegal de-addiction center in Ludhiana, India, left the hospital against medical advice after being rescued by the health department, civil administration, and police. The rescued patients did not consent to medical evaluation, and only five out of 27 patients agreed to necessary tests. The center lacked proper infrastructure and staff, and many patients did not want scientific treatment, increasing the risk of relapse. A specialist urged patients to seek scientific treatment to avoid serious psychiatric problems.
