Farmers in Erumanur village in Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu, destroyed paddy crops on 30 acres of land as the crops withered due to a lack of water for irrigation. The farmers rely on rain for irrigation and had invested around ₹25,000 per acre in raising the paddy. They are now requesting government assistance and compensation for their losses.
