In Maoist terror Hidma’s region, electricity returns after 20 yrs
After 20 years of living in darkness due to Maoist control, electricity has been restored in the remote Kunded village in India. The Maoists had uprooted electricity poles and cut off the village from the outside world. The village now has a literacy rate of around 9% and only three men with mobile phones. Police and CRPF personnel have established security camps in the region, leading to the restoration of electricity and other development initiatives. The region is on the borders of Sukma and Bijapur districts and is considered a core area of Maoist activity.
