‘Someone high up wants India blamed for Nijjar killing’

Indian high commissioner in Ottawa, Sanjay Verma, accused Canada of conducting a “tainted” probe into the murder case of Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Verma stated that Canada has not shared any relevant information that India can assist with, and suggested that Canadian PM Justin Trudeau’s allegations about Indian involvement compromised the investigation. Canada’s claims were informed by shared intelligence from the Five Eyes alliance, but Verma argued that conversations between diplomats are protected and cannot be used as evidence.
