One of the brightest stars in the sky is about to ‘blink out’
A remarkable celestial event is on the horizon as an asteroid named Leona is set to briefly obscure Betelgeuse, one of the most prominent stars in the night sky. This unique eclipse, anticipated to last no more than 15 seconds, offers astronomers an opportunity to gather insights into both Betelgeuse and Leona. The eclipse is scheduled to occur from late Monday into early Tuesday and will be visible along a narrow trajectory spanning from central Asia’s Tajikistan and Armenia, through Turkey, Greece, Italy, and Spain, all the way to Miami, the Florida Keys, and certain areas of Mexico.
