The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) has initiated a ₹144 crore makeover plan to transform the city’s bus stands, playgrounds, and beaches. The plan includes 36 projects aimed at improving the quality of life in the city. The first project, the Thiru Vi Ka Nagar bus terminus, was inaugurated by Chief Minister M K Stalin. The CMDA aims to create modern facilities and improve infrastructure to attract investment and make Chennai a world-class global city. The plan has received some criticism for encroaching on the duties of other local authorities. Urban planning experts emphasize the need for careful planning and continuity in project execution.
