AFSPA extended in Manipur for six months, excludes 19 police stations in Imphal Valley

The Manipur government has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) for six months starting October 1, excluding 19 police station areas in the Imphal valley and near Assam. The decision aims to address ongoing law and order issues, particularly the ethnic violence between Meiteis and Kukis. The governor approved the declaration of most of the state as a disturbed area.
