After Tungabhadra dam scare, expert panel to assess safety of all reservoirs

The Tungabhadra reservoir in Karnataka faced a crisis as a crest gate was washed away for the first time in 70 years. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced an expert committee to evaluate all dams’ structural safety in the state. Repairs are underway to save water and aid farmers, with JSW Steel engaged for production of a stronger gate.
