Aligarh Muslim Univ to launch its own satellite

The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) has approved Aligarh Muslim University’s proposal for their first satellite, named after their founder. The satellite, a 3U CubeSat, aims to study economic growth in India’s poorest districts, implement image compression technology, and test various in-house built sub-systems. The project is expected to be launched in six months. This approval comes after Anna University became the first Indian university to launch a student-made satellite in 2009.
