All about the deadly bat fungus raging through California, causing white-nose syndrome

A devastating fungus has been detected in multiple California counties, endangering bat populations across the state. Known as white-nose syndrome, it irritates hibernating bats, causing them to deplete their fat reserves and die. Detected since 2006, the disease has spread to 40 U.S. states and eight Canadian provinces.
