Apple overtakes Samsung as top seller of smartphones

According to a report from the International Data Corp, Apple has surpassed Samsung to become the largest seller of smartphones globally, ending Samsung’s 12-year dominance. In 2023, Apple commanded a 20% market share, while Samsung concluded the year with a slightly lower 19.4% share. The subsequent rankings include China’s Xiaomi, Oppo, and Transsion. This shift in rankings reflects a challenging year, with consumers opting for slower smartphone upgrades and choosing more affordable handsets amid high inflation and economic uncertainties.
