Army resources for operational matters, not to find illegal mining: Centre

The central government has confirmed that Army survey resources are focused on operational duties and cannot be allocated for detecting illegal sand mining along the Punjab-Pakistan border. The High Court has asked if the Survey of India can undertake this task, with further discussions scheduled for November 18.
