BJP tickets for 6 Himachal Congress rebels spark dissent

Shortly after BJP’s announcement, former minister and party leader from Lahaul and Spiti assembly constituency Ram Lal Markanda resigned and indicated that he might contest as a Congress candidate. Markanda’s decision was prompted by the nomination of Congress rebel Ravi Thakur, who had defeated him in the previous assembly elections. All office-bearers of the BJP’s Lahaul and Spiti block unit resigned in protest against the party’s decision.
