On September 6, 2024, Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft undocked from the ISS without NASA astronauts Barry “Butch” Wilmore and Sunita Williams due to safety concerns following issues like helium leaks and malfunctioning thrusters. Initially launched on June 5, the mission was extended while troubleshooting took place. NASA decided it was too risky for the astronauts to return in the Starliner, which landed uncrewed at White Sands Space Harbor. The next crewed mission is set for February 2025.
