A pathology lab in Chennai has been fined ₹30,000 by a consumer court after a blood test report contained a wrongly mentioned health parameter. The daughter of a serving IPS officer had booked a lab test at home, but the phlebotomist was negligent, resulting in a painful purple patch on her arm. The lab’s response claimed that the incorrect value was a result of a typographical error. The court ordered the lab to pay compensation for deficiency of service and litigation costs.
