China takes big step towards developing 6G network, satellite Internet

Chinese scientists have successfully tested a communication device mounted on a satellite that could bring 6G networks closer to reality. The device, called “spaceborne optical switching technology,” can pass light signals from one location to another without converting them to electrical signals. This technology bypasses the traditional photon-electron-photon method, resulting in faster and more efficient data exchange. The device has a switching capacity of 40 gigabits per second, a significant improvement compared to traditional switching technology. This development is crucial for the future of ultra-high speed and large-capacity information transmissions.
