China’s LandSpace beats SpaceX, pioneers unique rocket tech

China’s LandSpace successfully launched satellites using rockets fueled by methane, beating SpaceX to the technology. The Zhuque 2 Y-3 rocket, created by LandSpace, took off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China. The satellites sent into orbit were Honghu, Honghu 2, and TY-33. This launch by LandSpace has paved the way for the commercialization of liquid-powered rockets in China, demonstrating their reliability and stability. LandSpace plans to launch three more rockets annually, reaching a total of 12 launches in 2026.
