Chinese hackers exploited bug to compromise internet companies, cybersecurity firm says

A Chinese hacking group leveraged a previously unknown software vulnerability in Versa Director to compromise several internet companies in the US and abroad, according to Lumen Technologies. The attacks are attributed to Volt Typhoon, an alleged Chinese government-backed group. Versa Networks acknowledged the issue and recommended users update their software.
