Cong releases final list of 7 candidates for Chhattisgarh, drops 4 more MLAs

The Congress party in Chhattisgarh has released its final list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections, denying tickets to four sitting legislators. This brings the total number of benched legislators to 22 out of the party’s existing strength of 71 in the 90-member assembly. The party cited reasons such as local anti-incumbency and lackluster performance for dropping these legislators. Some of the dropped legislators have indicated that they may contest as independent candidates or from other parties.
