Cyclone-hit Chennai suburb a ghost town
Three Ethiopian nationals were among the last batch of people to be rescued and evacuated from the Perumbakkam area along OMR that was ravaged by cyclone Michaung. The army helped evacuate people from the waterlogged areas. It may take at least two weeks for Perumbakkam to recover fully, as there is still knee-deep water in the area. The locality now resembles a ghost town with no people living there. The corporation plans to improve outlets at Pallikaranai marsh downstream to ensure water drainage.
