In 1996, Raja Hindustani became a major hit, grossing Rs 76 crore globally and earning critical acclaim. Interestingly, Karisma Kapoor, who starred in the film, was not the original choice for the role. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was initially offered the part. In an interview, Aishwarya revealed she had received four film offers before winning Miss World and chose to participate in Miss India to take a brief hiatus from the film industry. Had she not participated in Miss India, Raja Hindustani might have been her debut film. Additionally, Juhi Chawla was also considered for the role but declined the offer, allowing Karisma to step in. Directed by Dharmesh Darshan, Raja Hindustani was a major success and played a crucial role in establishing Karisma Kapoor’s career.
