Doctor held for MTP under pressure from woman’s in-laws

A gynaecologist in a government hospital was arrested in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur this week for performing an abortion on a woman who claimed her in-laws forced her to undergo the procedure. Inspector Gajendra Lohar of Kagal police station told TOI that Dr Digvijay Abhay Patil was arrested on the basis of the woman’s statement that she hadn’t given her consent to the abortion.
