Electric planes, once a fantasy, start to take to the skies

Beta Technologies, a Vermont-based company, recently completed a 16-day journey down the East Coast of the United States in its battery-powered aircraft, the CX300. The trip showcased the potential of electric aviation, which aims to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from air travel. Beta has raised over $800 million from investors and plans to mass-produce its aircraft in a new factory. Other companies, including Joby Aviation and Archer Aviation, are also developing electric aircraft with support from major investors.
