The European Union plans to keep products made using forced labor out of its market by adopting a new regulation. This move has raised concerns among developing countries about the trading bloc using “non-trade” barriers, which could violate WTO rules. The regulation includes a framework to investigate the use of forced labor in supply chains. If found violating this framework, import and export of related goods will be halted at the EU’s borders.
